FAQs
How should we dress for the boat tour?
We suggest that you plan for a trip on a boat. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a warm jacket in case the wind comes up and comfortable footwear. If you are participating in the waders experience on the 3hr tour please bring a towel for after and socks to wear in the waders. In the warmer months it is lovely just to wear your bathers if you prefer.
Is the wading experience available on the 90 min Short and Sweet tour?
No it is not available on this tour as we do not allow the time for the wading experience and the oyster farm that we visit does not have a clear sandy bottom to walk around on.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
As we are a licensed venue you can’t bring your own alcohol. On the tour we have local beer, wine and Coffin Bay gin available to purchase by the glass or bottle while you eat your oysters.
Do you have very small or very large waders for the wading experience?
The waders are sized by shoe size not by body shape. Very small children will not fit in the waders and will need to wear their bathers. Very large people may not fit into the large shoe size waders and may also need to wear their bathers. Its lovely clear water with a clear sandy bottom and during the warmer months really nice to walk around in your bathers or shorts that you are happy to get wet. Bring a towel and wetsuit boots or water appropriate shoes if not wearing waders.
Are the oysters only served natural?
The oysters are freshly shucked and served natural. They do come with fresh lemon. We also have Wasabi and Tabasco sauce that you can enjoy with your oysters onboard. If you believe that you don’t like oysters then we encourage you to consider when booking that this might be the only time you get to try oysters fresh from the farm, you may be surprised how much you might like them!
Can we book without oysters if we don’t like oysters?
Yes we have an option to book without oysters. As you make your booking finish the with oysters option first and on the final page before you pay on the top left is a tab “make another booking”. Please then add the booking for without oysters and you can then pay for them both together in one payment at the end. YOU WILL BE ON THE SAME BOAT TOGETHER AS WE ONLY HAVE ONE BOAT.
Can we purchase fresh oysters on the tour to take home?
No unfortunately we can not sell oysters on the boat for you to take home due to new oyster harvest food safety protocols. You also can not take oysters from the boat that you have decided not to consume onboard during the tour.
Do you freight oysters or sell them on the tour to take with you?
No we don’t. We have leased our farm to another farmer so we only operate our boat tours including oyster farm tours. Unfortunately we can not sell oysters on the boat for you to take home due to new oyster harvest food safety protocols. You also can not take oysters from the boat that you have decided not to consume onboard during the tour. I am concerned I will get sea sick?
Our boat is a very stable boat that bridges the waves when travelling along and does not roll around on the top of the water when stationary. It is very unusual for someone to feel sea sick. If you are on tour and do feel sick we ask that you bring this to our attention so that we can minimise the circumstances that is causing this for you.
